CampusPin Glossary
Tuition
The annual fee a college charges for instruction itself — separate from room, board, fees, and other costs of attendance.
Tuition is the price of academic instruction only. It is one component of cost of attendance (COA) and excludes mandatory fees, housing, food, books, and personal expenses. Public universities typically publish two tuition figures: in-state tuition (lower; for residents of the state) and out-of-state tuition (higher; for everyone else). Private universities usually charge the same tuition regardless of residency.
CampusPin's tuition filter lets you set a manual minimum and maximum — including values above $50,000 — to surface schools that match your budget.
