Federal Work-Study
A federal program that funds part-time on-campus or community-service jobs for students with financial need.
Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides funding for part-time student jobs — usually on campus or in approved community-service positions. Eligibility is established via FAFSA; the school determines award amounts and posts available positions. Earnings are paid directly to the student (not the bursar) and do not reduce future-year aid eligibility. Hourly pay is at least the federal minimum wage. Students typically work 8–15 hours per week alongside classes.
