An Industrial Engineering (IE) major is typically a four-year ABET-accredited BS focused on designing, analyzing, and improving the systems that turn people, machines, materials, information, and energy into products and services. Coursework starts with calculus, probability, and statistics, then builds into operations research, optimization, stochastic modeling, production and inventory control, quality engineering, human factors/ergonomics, simulation, and facility layout.
