CampusPin Q&A
How many colleges should I compare?
Short answerMost counselors suggest a final application list of 6–12 schools spread across likely, target, and reach acceptance bands. On CampusPin you can compare up to four schools side by side on /compare in a single view, then rotate other schools in as your list narrows.
There is no universal right number, but two practical rules apply: enough schools to give you real choices after admissions and aid arrive, and few enough that you can do a thoughtful application for each. A common range is 6–12 schools on the application list, with a balanced mix by acceptance rate.
CampusPin’s comparison view shows four schools at a time, which is the comfortable max for reading a comparison table. If your pinned list is larger, work through it in batches of four on /compare. The Intelligent Advisor at /advisor is useful for tradeoff questions when you can’t decide what to drop.
