CampusPin Glossary
Major
A student's primary field of academic study — typically 30–60 credit hours of required courses plus electives.
A major is the primary discipline an undergraduate commits to during college. Most U.S. bachelor's degrees require 30 to 60 credits in the major, plus general-education requirements and electives. Students declare a major usually by the end of sophomore year (some schools earlier, some later). Switching majors is normal — about a third of bachelor's degree students change at least once.
CampusPin maps majors to canonical CIP families (Computer & Information Sciences, Health Professions, Business, etc.) so a single search like "Cybersecurity" surfaces every school that offers a related program even if their internal name differs slightly.
