Colleges that accept the Common Application

Over 1,000 U.S. colleges accept the Common Application. Apply once, send to as many as you want — most selective private schools and many publics.

The Common App is the dominant U.S. undergraduate application platform. Member colleges accept one shared profile (personal info, academics, activities, essay) plus optional school-specific supplements. Filing once and sending to multiple schools dramatically reduces the work compared to filling out 10–20 separate applications. Some public university systems (UC, CSU, SUNY, Texas A&M) operate their own platforms instead of or alongside Common App.

Frequently asked

  • Is there a fee to use the Common App?

The Common App platform is free. Each member college sets its own application fee (typically $50–$90), which is waived for fee-eligible applicants via the Common App fee-waiver process.

  • How many schools can I apply to with the Common App?

You can submit the Common App to up to 20 schools. There is no soft limit before that — the platform supports submitting to multiple schools in one session.
